Mahrukh Umrigar is a co-founding partner at Consortia Legal and heads the firm's global mobility practice. Splitting her time between London, UK, and Mumbai, India, she also co-heads the firm's employment and private client practices.
With over eighteen years of experience, Mahrukh has advised numerous global multinationals, relocation companies, accountancy and law firms, and various other service providers on their day-to-day Indian immigration and mobility requirements.
Prior to co-founding Consortia Legal, Mahrukh worked with a reputed Indian law firm heading its global mobility practice. Covering end-to-end immigration services from pre-arrival strategy and visa advice to post-arrival compliances and in-country matters, Mahrukh is recognized for providing concise and practical solutions to her clients and business contacts in a timely and cost-effective manner.
From pre-arrival strategies to post-arrival formalities in India, Mahrukh advises across the entire gamut of Indian immigration including initial visa applications, local in-country registrations and visa extensions, repatriation formalities, police verifications, exit and re-entry permits, passport applications, police clearance certificates legalizations and apostilles, surrender certificates, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards and the like.
On the private client front, Mahrukh works alongside international tax advisors, lawyers and other consultants to assist persons of Indian origin in the UK, Europe and US with non-contentious matters related to Indian estate/succession planning.
She is a member of the paradiGM community, International Bar Association (IBA), EuRA and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (Global Migration Section - GMS) (AILA GMS). She currently serves on the paradiGM community and AILA GMS conference committees as well as the IBA Immigration and Nationality Committee.
Mahrukh is a regular speaker at international seminars and conferences and speaks on an array of topics covering different aspects of business and family immigration, diversity, equity and inclusion, employment laws and HR best practices. She has been recognised as one of the world's leading practitioners in the Who's Who Legal: Corporate Immigration 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 (now Lexology) report for Corporate Immigration, India and has won the Client Choice award for Corporate Immigration, India, 2026.
